"It was my 64th," she explains, "and the theme for the celebration was [The Beatles'] When I'm Sixty-Four Short article content." To even more promote it, she's hired a carriage and employed her pal Betty Denning, 87, to work the high street in the chic ride while demonstrating Her Majesty's popular wave, accompanied by a footman and a town crier.
"It's fun," she states, "and we require fun. It's hope for the future. "We do a lot of events at our store," she adds. "It's theatrical which is excellent marketing." To wit: Guests will receive a certificate mentioning where they were for the so-called "Wedding event of the Century" tucked beside a discount coupon for 15% off their next Acheson's purchase.
